Thirsty was created in September 2008.  It is an abstract of a blooming cactus suffering from thirst.  In the background are blues that move vertically on the canvas to signify torrential rain that approaches the plant.  The white portions of the plant signify its weakened state; coloring these portions white was inspired by nature, in particular, by what happens to ocean coral as it begins to die; it whitens.  The cactus even takes on the texture of coral. The cactus blooms and thereby exposes its beauty; its discoloration exposes its weakness.  The plant’s deliverance is near, and the painting expresses hope.

The painting’s meaning can be applied to people as well, even perhaps to the artist herself.  No matter what weakened state people may find themselves in, they should never give up hope.
