Rachel was created in April of 2007.  It is the first in a series to include five elements of a female’s silhouette within a busy abstraction:  her hair, neck, shoulders, back and a profile of one breast.  Rachel is intricate with mixed media detail.  Her brown and blonde hair is accessorized with a red umbrella pin which is a literal miniature umbrella taken from a tropical adult beverage.  A string of pearls falls along her back which is literally comprised of different sized white buttons.  I real jean pocket accents the lower part of the painting to indicate where her hips and buttocks would begin.
