Flashlights was created in September 2009.  It consists of 3-D mixed media that create an abstract of dark colors smattered with diagonals of white and silver lights.   The painting is to evoke the stark contrast between the flashes of light and the dark background.  Flashlights is a continuation of the theme behind an earlier work, “Fame”.  Essentially, the painting relates how the pursuit of things worldly and material is a dark trap—no matter how it is packaged or in which dimension a person may be pursuing it; no matter how the lights may flash, the core remains the same- dark, black and void.

The artist never wants to forget what she really holds dear and important—truth, love, integrity, real friends and family—not things that are empty and shallow.  This piece is a small reminder of her internal resolve to never forget that she does not want to fall into the trap in which the majority can be found.
